HTML Lesson 4: Using Ordered and Unordered List

Key Points:

  • Lists can be very useful when trying to organize information on a website.
  • Ordered List: shows numbering or lettering system to sort and display information contained in a list.
  • To use an ordered list you use the <ol> tag:
    <ol>
    list…
    </ol>
  • To place items in an ordered list you use the <li> tag
    <li> item one</li>
    <li> item two</li>
  • Example:
  • <ol>
    <li>Green</li>
    <li>Red</li>
    <li>Brown</li>
    </ol>
  • Unordered list: show bullet points to display information contained in a list.
  • To use an unordered list you use the <ul> tag:
    <ul>
    list..
    </ul>
  • You place items in an unordered list the same as an ordered list.
  • Example:
    <ul>
    <li>Yellow</li>
    <li>Orange</li>
    <li>Pink</li>
    </ul>
